After switching to a consulting role in January 2016 I knew that the trip to Myanmar would be difficult. Not only would I need to raise the $5,000 for the trip but, the time away from work without vacation would mean money unearned. We would need another $5,000 to cover our expenses.
Miraculously, as I worried whether this trip would happen I knew God wanted us to go and so I told him he must do three things to show me he wanted us to go.
- He must allow both Josiah and my visa’s to get approved without issue
- He must allow Josiah (with teacher consent) to take just over 2 weeks off school at a time when school was in session
- He must provide the resources.
A few days after this someone called and asked, “Are you and Josiah planning to go to Myanmar still in April?” I responded, “Yes, that is the plan Lord willing.” The response on the other end of the phone was, “Great, I want to cover the airfare.” What a blessing!
Airfare was a huge portion of the trip but what about the missed work. We set up a donations page for Josiah and while some folks gave, we were not seeing nearly as much as we had hoped. Things did not look good. We had the trip paid for but not the bills in our absence. Then, 2 weeks before we left I received a random contract job for another client. The timing of the job and the billing/invoicing worked out that the amounts covered exactly for the time I would be out and the check arrived exactly when the other check was empty/low. God provided! This was the first in a series of miracles of God’s provision documented through this site.
