In an effort to keep this post to the point I will save the back story for another time. The image on this post represents a vision my Father gave me in 2015 about our family’s call to the U.S. As soon as I received this vision I quickly came home (returning from a trip to Myanmar) and started planning to “sell it all” and get ready to move.
In my mind, we had a mission, let’s GO! If you know or have worked with me you know that one of my strengths in activating. I like to get important things done right now. I quickly learned I was going too fast and God said, “slow down.” Through many prophetic words, experiences and prayer He continued to say, “slow down, rest in me.” He has spent the last year teaching us about trust and rest. To be honest, my “hardworking American” mind was concerned that others would see it as laziness (even I wanted to be sure it wasn’t) and I found it hard to not solve problems quickly and on my own. I struggled inside but I continued to hear him say, “slower, just rest in me.”
Then, about 60 days ago He spoke to me. He took me to Abraham and asked when Abraham received his promise? I realized he never did, at least not in his lifetime.
- He received the promise at 70 years old
- It was 5 years later at 75 when he started on the journey
- 10 years after the first covenant is established he receives the covenant of sacrifice
- 1 years later (16 years into the promise) he has Ishmael
- 13 years after Ishmael was born he received the covenant of circumcision
- 1 year later he finally has Isaac, the child through which the promise will be fulfilled.
It was 30 years before Abraham had a son as part of the promise but he never stopped doubting God. Abraham never saw the many nations or the inhabited land which were the first parts of his promise. I began to read how Abraham in his haste tried to make God’s promise come true and created Ishmael. I then remembered the first of a series of prophetic words spoken over me starting in early 2016. The entire word is lengthy but the part I remembered was, “I love your Abrahamic heart. Go to a place I will send you and before you know where you are on your way.” He confirmed the vision he gave me but began showing me that it is on his timeline, not the timeline I had created. As we are learning to rest and slow down, our Father is teaching us how to live in His love and what true foundations for following Christ are.
This has been challenging, for me especially. Sometimes I’m afraid it looks like a completely different vision but I am learning it is not at all. Rather, it is the Father giving more specific details on how to accomplish the vision in His timing. He has for months now been working on me regarding Jesus’ command to love, my and my family’s gifts, and more specifically has been bringing up the phrase “Father’s Heart”. This phrase “Father’s Heart” has come to mean a number of things. What he sees in me, what he wants me to see in Him, and what he wants me to help convey from him to others. We are just now starting to walk in/live out some pretty radical ideas around “Father’s Heart”. I’d love to share those stories and details but they are so fresh they will be for another time. Stay tuned!
