Recently, on a Monday, a friend and ministry partner contacted me and asked if my family would be able to join his family for an overnight stay in Atlanta. He and I had wanted to get our families together for some time and this was the first chance we had. What is greater is that he was going to be doing a training with some folks in Atlanta on Wednesday and asked me if I could join him for the training.
I took a moment to pray and then knew in my heart that this was the exact thing God had called my family to and I should agree and trust Him to provide. We did not really have the money for the trip. There was money in our account that could pay for the trip but then we would have bills that same week that were not paid. God has been speaking to me about “daily provision” and learning to trust him for today and so, while the money was not here yet I knew he would provide.
I agreed to the trip, told him we would be there, booked a hotel and told my wife what the plan was. I wanted to pray for the amount we needed so I did some quick estimating and knew that we would need between $250-$275 for gas, food, and 1-nights hotel. So, I asked the Lord to provide the proper amount.
This happened on a Monday and the trip was on Wednesday. At this point I had learned to not tell people what the need was. I just trusted God would provide as I was faithful in his calling. On Tuesday night I met with a great group of men at our church. We have a weekly fellowship where we talk about the great things God is doing. As we were there one of the men leaned over and said, “The Lord told me to give this to you” and handed me a folded bundle of 10, $20 bills. That was $200 of the money I needed. Another gentlemen in our group announced, “The Lord wants me to bless you too. After we are done I will run to my ATM and bring back what he has told me.” Later that evening he returned with $60 and combined the Lord provided $260 for our trip, the night before we left.
Yes, God ordained a trip with my family and then miraculously provided the exact amount I needed to take them. This is my God!
