I ended up in the midwest on a training trip with little money to go and a good God taking care of me. When I left for the trip I had determined that I was taking $200 for gas and God would need to provide for my food and accommodations. Well, provide he did!
In one visit with a young couple was excited to hear all that God was doing in our life. They invited me over for lunch and made the most amazing meal. I should say at this time that, at least from my perspective, when God is taking care of the meals you eat like a king. Or at least in this instance this was the case. We enjoyed a fantastic spread of fresh fruits, vegetables, corn on the cob, farm raise beef. It was splendid!
After lunch I began to share my heart on what God is doing in our lives. It was obvious this couple wanted to participate but they had some of their own financial trouble as they had explained. Partnering with us monthly was not something they could do. However, they could help us out with an abundance of food. Roughly 40lbs of hamburger beef, as much as my cooler could hold. What a blessing! What they did not know is that at home, our freezer was emptying out and meat was becoming a scare item. They had just met a need in a HUGE way.
But they did not stop there. They insisted that I fill my truck with gas from their gas tank AND then they handed me a check for $250 saying this was all they could do to help the cause of the gospel. I was floored! All they could do?!? They fed me like a king, sent food with me like a king, filled my vehicle and my pockets and felt they weren’t doing enough. Oh that I could be such a blessing to those around me!
Well, there is more from this trip that the Lord provided in other stories on this faith wall but I will say this. I never spent my $200 on fuel and God did provide the meals and accommodations. In fact, he sent me home with even more than I came with!
When we trust God in faith with our lack he fills it up and tops it off with his abundance!
