Where are you going?
We actually are currently planning to keep Murfreesboro, TN as our home base. That said, we will be traveling quite often and for lengthy periods of time.
Specifically, through a vision, we know we are called to parts of the US as well as continuing our work in Southeast Asia.
Are you selling your home?
That is not part of the plan at this time, but that could change. There are aspects of it we are waiting on God for. At one point I was ahead of God in trying to sell it and he made it clear my time was not his.
He has not told us to do so at this point but we are open to it and ready if he asks us to. For now, we move toward the vision he has given us and take each step as he brings it our way knowing that Murfreesboro will always be home.
How long will you be gone?
Our typical trip to Asia will last 2-4 weeks while we anticipate our initial “starter” trips in the U.S. to be 2-3 weeks. As we see fruit and opportunity in new areas the 2-3 weeks could turn into several months. We see Paul do the same thing. Some places he was there for a few days or weeks just passing through. Once he started seeing fruit he stayed and invested.
What about education?
Out of necessity, and with a little intimidation and anxiety, we are planning to homeschool the kids next year. Ethan is homeschooling this past year and the other three will be done with public education on May 26th. Wendy and Justin will do education together dividing subjects according to their strengths.
Where will you stay when traveling?
There are some great opportunities here. In Luke 10 Jesus told his disciples to stay with those persons of peace they found. That may be challenging for a family of 6 but this is always our first preference because it creates a community similar to what Jesus fostered with his disciples.
In other cases, we will stay some in hotels, Air B&B, condos, rentals and any accommodation that works for the family.
We have had a couple of folks recommend getting a motorhome to make travel easier. Some of them are praying diligently for this. We don’t have plans to purchase one but if the Lord provides it we will use it.
